The next Family Pastor at Faith Bible Church will have the unique and enviable opportunity to step into a role primed for success, building on a solid foundation with an eager and dedicated team. Families at Faith love to study and teach God’s Word, and are firmly committed to the belief that parents are the primary disciple-makers of their children, while the church is called to equip and call the parents to this task. FBC is also a multiplying church, both in terms of a large number of young and growing families, as well as a vision to plant more churches in underserved parts of the city. In fact, it is our desire to ensure a smooth transition in the Family Ministry through a period of overlap with the current Family Pastor, who will be leading a new church plant in early 2022.
Located in the heart of the rapidly growing city of Spokane, Washington, Faith Bible Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship wholeheartedly, who labor to help others grow spiritually, who speak the Gospel in every sphere of life, who partner in Gospel ministry around the world, and who serve in and outside the church. As the church begins its 30th year this September, we are celebrating God’s faithfulness in making FBC a loving, healthy, sending church, and are excited to see how the Lord will move as we continue to raise and make disciples.
Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Family Ministry at FBC is strong and active, having produced and broadcast an excellent weekly program called “Family Hour” which focused on providing families with a point of connection with each other, along with resources, encouragement, and modeling for in-home family discipleship. Many FBC families have developed healthy and sustainable rhythms for family worship in the last year, generating a great deal of momentum and excitement as they resume on-campus activities and programs.
The right man for this role will pair the heart and calling of a shepherd with strong administrative skills. He will be able to provide vision, inspiration, energy, and guidance for parents on how to biblically care for and train up their children. He will raise up and/or recruit mentors and role models that can help encourage and train younger parents. He’ll possess a passion for helping church members develop diverse discipling relationships, and for reinforcing the conviction that parents are the primary disciple-makers in their children’s lives. He will network with others in like-minded Family Ministry models, able to bring in outside resources (authors, speakers, pastors, books, etc.) that can provide training for parents and other FBC members.
The Family Pastor at Faith Bible Church is a highly collaborative pastoral position. He equips parents, mentors, and children’s ministry workers to make disciples of Jesus Christ for children from birth to young adulthood. He works in conjunction with the Counseling Pastor to oversee marriage and parenting classes. He oversees a Children’s Ministry Coordinator, and works closely with the Youth and College Pastors to facilitate a cohesive discipleship strategy for the next generation. In addition to these staff interactions, he develops and equips a large, established team of lay leaders to effectively shepherd children and students.
