Dating Q&A

Dating Q&A

Three couples from the Doxa staff answer students questions about dating to bring our series to a close.

Questions include:

  • What are some tips for letting someone know that you like them and gaining the courage to tell them?
  • How do I desire a dating relationship in a God-glorifying way? I know it’s not inherently bad to desire one, but I don’t want to covet a relationship and I want to be content in singleness as well.
  • What does the man’s spiritual leadership look like at the dating level? Especially if he’s newer to the faith or knows the Bible less than his girlfriend? What are tips for leading a woman spiritually without going too far or getting too deep before marriage?
  • How do you maintain boundaries during dating? What are good boundaries to set?
  • How do you have a conversation about past sexual sin, or brokenness? When is that appropriate?
  • Why is it important for the guy to continue to pursue the woman (ie–keep going on dates)? And what is a “date”? Does it need to be expensive? What is the best way to plan a date?
  • How should the roles of man and woman look different in dating, engagement, and marriage?
  • What role should parents or mentors play in relationships, especially with accountability?
