Dear Faith Bible Church family,
We arrived safely at Santisuk English School in Bangkok, completed our cultural orientation and teacher training, and have now finished our first week of teaching. Our students are mostly Buddhist, but we each have a few Muslim students as well. Even so, they engage with the Bible stories that are incorporated into the English lessons.
We are staying in a small apartment adjacent to the school, so it takes us under two minutes to walk to class. As you can see from the photo of the bulletin board, there are only three American teachers for this session, so class sizes are large. The school can always use more teachers. We are also a short walk to a variety of food stalls where authentic Thai cuisine is cooked to order while we watch.
Bangkok is a city of over 11 million people, and the traffic never stops. Ear plugs and air conditioning help with sleeping at night. A 15-minute walk away is a huge mall with four floors of shops and higher-end restaurants. There’s even Dunkin' Donuts and Swensen’s Ice Cream! Some local people go window shopping just to enjoy the air conditioning.
Garry’s Level 2 class includes one-on-one interviews with all the students. After the graded part of the interview, he will offer to pray with them and give them a booklet in Thai that explains the gospel. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s work in the students’ lives.
We are grateful for your prayers and look forward to sharing more about Santisuk English School after we return.
Grace and peace,
Garry and Connie Morgan
