Chris, welcome back for another episode. Today we have Chris Kopp.

    Caleb Effinger 0:18
We already interviewed her dear husband, Charlie, cop, and that was a lot of fun. So Chris, welcome to the show. Thanks. Okay, so tell us. Tell us your tell us about your hometown you're growing up.

    Chris Kopp 0:32
I grew up in Spokane, Washington, local, us, local. Yeah, the city's changed a lot in the years I've been growing up here, nice.

    Caleb Effinger 0:43
Okay, so then, did you go to high school here and college?

    Chris Kopp 0:50
I did high school, so I have a high school education. I went to Ferris Okay, so

    Caleb Effinger 0:57
    tell us about your family.

    Chris Kopp 1:00
My family, okay? I grew up in a Christian home. I had great folks, and then I have two older brothers, one of them still lives in Spokane, and the other one lives in Wyoming. They're both still living, even though they are older than me and now I'm married to Charlie, and we have three sons, and all three sons are married, and they've gifted us with 11 grandchildren.

    Caleb Effinger 1:33
That's incredible. Do you do you ever get to visit your brother in Wyoming? Okay, once

    Chris Kopp 1:38
in a while, he's a great tour guide of Yellowstone.

    Caleb Effinger 1:41
Oh, okay, yeah, because we, like, we haven't explored a ton in Wyoming, but it's what we have seen. Is really pretty.

    Chris Kopp 1:51
So, yeah, that's awesome, rugged country.

    Caleb Effinger 1:55
Yeah. Okay, so what was your career,

    Chris Kopp 2:02
I would say being a homemaker. Yeah, being a wife and a mother and a homemaker was my career. Yeah, I worked a little bit when the kids were in school. I had a few odd jobs here and there, but nothing that I would call a career by any means. Yeah? And although my favorite job my dad was a real estate appraiser, and so for a number of years, I typed appraisals for him, wow. I really enjoyed that job, because it was almost like walking through houses,

    Caleb Effinger 2:31
yep, okay. And so was this was, this was before computers, so you had to use like a typewriter. Was a typewriter, okay, that must have been, was it like, okay, so using a typewriter, you had to be really good at typing, because you couldn't necessarily erase. Or could

    Chris Kopp 2:51
you, yeah, you know, we could,

    Caleb Effinger 2:55
you could a little bit, okay, okay, yeah, it must have been nice to use a typewriter where you had to know how to spell.

    Chris Kopp 3:06
There were a lot of things I like that didn't copy and paste everything. Yeah, yeah,

    Caleb Effinger 3:12
that's awesome. Okay, so, so talk about your your testimony, what? How did you come to know Jesus?

    Chris Kopp 3:23
Growing up in a Christian home, sometimes I think it's hard for kids to know. I mean, I believed intellectually everything but and did not realize that I wasn't myself actually a follower of Christ until I was 15, and one night in church, I just really felt the Lord impress on me that I needed to give my life to him, and I did that. I would say that's the point at which I became a genuine believer and a follower of Christ. Yeah.

    Caleb Effinger 3:57
Nah, that's sweet. How did you end up at Faith, Bible Church,

    Chris Kopp 4:03
yeah, so we, we heard about the picnic that was going to be happening at Franklin Park. Actually, my dad was part of the original board of elders for faith, Bible Church, is that right? So we heard about the picnic. We came to the picnic that day. It was exciting to see the group of people that the Lord was bringing together to begin faith, Bible, church, and we were on board right from the very beginning.

    Caleb Effinger 4:33
And you say we so you you and Charlie were married by then. We certainly

    Chris Kopp 4:37
were, and we even had teenage kids.

    Caleb Effinger 4:39
Oh, is that right? Okay, okay, I'm curious. Back on just a little bit, how did you guys meet

    Chris Kopp 4:46
Charlie and I Yes, we actually met on a blind date. Is that right? Yeah, the fellow that fixed us up, I had told him that I would not date an. Non believer, but he fixed me up on a blind date with someone that was a non believer. So that was a bit of a surprise to me.

    Caleb Effinger 5:07
Okay, yeah, okay. And then did you? Then you invited him to the conference where he got saved? Is that right?

    Chris Kopp 5:19
Well, that's kind of a funny thing I did not, oh, my youth pastor did not believe in missionary dating, so he had instructed us not to ever do missionary dating and try to lead a boyfriend or someone else to Christ. So I was determined not to ask him that night to this crusade. And his friend that had originally fixed us up on the blind date was supposed to be doing that. He didn't follow through and do that. So that very night, as I was getting ready to leave to go to the crusade, Charlie called me. He said, I got a car for the night. Can I come see you? I'm like, Well, okay, but I'm going to this crusade at the call to see him. He goes, Great. Can I come? Yeah, you can come. So he invited himself, I guess you would say to the crusade that night, and that was the night that he came to know Christ.

    Caleb Effinger 6:20
Well, that is sweet. It's Wow once again, like there's so many stories of just how the Lord uses his kids in each other's lives to bring them to himself. So thanks for sharing that. That's a That's a fun, fun story.

    Chris Kopp 6:37
Well, it was reassuring for me, because I knew that he didn't make that decision based on his interest in me, but he made the decision to follow Christ because God was moving in his life.

    Caleb Effinger 6:48
Yeah, yeah. So one more question in regard to this, the night Charlie got saved, to when you guys got married? What was that time frame

    Chris Kopp 7:01
two and a half years. Yeah, okay, okay, wow.

    Caleb Effinger 7:04
    What's your your ministry involvement?

    Chris Kopp 7:08
Currently, I work in the toddler room at Faith bible church on Sunday mornings, taking care of toddlers. And I also do coordinate women's the child care for women's Bible study on Wednesdays.

    Caleb Effinger 7:25
That's sweet. Well, I we are a blessed family getting to put our little one year old in your care every Sunday. It's a highlight of her week. She She loves it. So thank you for taking care of her. Okay, so what's God teaching you right now?

    Chris Kopp 7:45
For about the last year, I've been reading through the Bible and just trying to get to know God better for who he is. So that's what God seems to be teaching me is just more about who he is,

    Caleb Effinger 8:06
that's really that's really sweet. And I know you've walked with the Lord a long time. So to hear, to hear that come from you, is encouraging for for us younger generation to keep going. So thank you, and then, so how can we be praying for you right now?

    Chris Kopp 8:29
Yes, I've walked with the Lord a long time, and I have found him always, always faithful, because he is faithful. But be that as it may, I still struggle with being anxious and not trusting him. You know, I can think about that and think this makes absolutely no sense. I know that he is trustworthy. I know that I am not, but I still struggle to trust the Lord, just without doubt. And so I would, I would love to just trust the Lord fully and completely.

    Caleb Effinger 9:11
Yeah, well, I'm sure you're not alone in that, and we will be praying for you.

    Chris Kopp 9:18
Thank you. Yeah. Then there's that aspect of wanting to be a real influence for Christ in the lives of my grandchildren. There are four of them, maybe five now, that have trusted Christ, oh, and then the others that have not yet trusted the Lord, and we just want, well, we, I talk about Charlie and I mean, we're, we've been together for over 50 years. I don't think of me as a me so much as I think of us as a we. But you know, it's really the desire of my heart to influence my kids for Christ. Christ, and to have them growing up remembering that I loved the Lord and I trusted him, and I just want that to influence them.

    Caleb Effinger 10:14
That's really sweet. Well, Chris, thank you for sharing all this before we let you go here the speed round. Are you ready? I think so. Okay,

    Caleb Effinger 10:34
cats or dogs. Dogs. Pineapple on

    Chris Kopp 10:38
    pizza, I'll say no,

    Caleb Effinger 10:40
    sweet. We could be friends.

    Chris Kopp 10:42
And what about pets? We have a dog.

    Caleb Effinger 10:46
Nice, okay, favorite book besides the

    Chris Kopp 10:49
Bible, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Nice, yeah, although those are my favorite books, the genre that I usually read is historical fiction. Oh, fun. I don't think that makes sense, but that's the way it

    Caleb Effinger 11:03
works. I like it best. Surprise gift.

    Chris Kopp 11:06
Last year, I had a rather significant birthday, and Charlie managed to surprise me. It is not easy to surprise me, and he surprised me with a surprise birthday party.

    Caleb Effinger 11:18
What a guy I know. Okay, what would you do with extra time? If you didn't have sleep,

    Chris Kopp 11:24
I would probably read, or I would go for a walk, or I would go to a lake.

    Caleb Effinger 11:32
Ooh, nice, okay? Paddle boat or canoe.

    Chris Kopp 11:39
Sand on the seashore, okay? Or a dock, yep, okay. I like it when I'm not swimming. Yeah.

    Caleb Effinger 11:46
Favorite place to eat in Spokane,

    Chris Kopp 11:50
wild, sage, nice. It's the same answer that Charlie gave during his interview, and it's a really good thing that we both like the same place, although it does make us rather boring. Nope.

    Caleb Effinger 12:03
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. So that's awesome. Well, Chris, thank you so much for your time. Thank you for your just testimony to the church and and just loving on our kids we That's it's really priceless. So so thank you. You you
