Reality #1: (If you want a life that brings glory to the Father) you must come to grips with the actual situation of the Christian life (vv. 1-2)

4 components of the Christian life

1. The Vine 
2. The Vinedresser or, Master Gardener
3. Two kinds of branches (some of which bear fruit and some do not)  
4. “Fruit”

Reality #2: you must come to grips with how the Christian life actually works (vv. 4-5)

Reality #3: you must come to grips with how to abide and what’s at stake when you do (vv. 6-8)
