Main idea: Sing for joy – the Father has crushed the Son so that we could be His children. Jesus took all our sin – the pain, the sorrow, the sickness, the grief, the death, the sin itself, and the guilt… (...
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. - Hebrews 4:15-16
Prayer is a privilege. Not a burden or something on a spiritual checklist. A privilege. It is so easy to get that turned around. God doesn’t need anything or anyone. And yet, He beckons us to spend time with Him.
Prayer is simply spending time with the Lord, bringing our praise and burdens to Him. Is your prayer life a sweet time of closeness with Him?
February is our prayer emphasis month at Faith Bible Church to remind us that this deep privilege is available any time of the day or night. Whether it is 2 minutes or 20, He waits for us to simply call on Him to receive His help in our time of need.
Let’s use February to improve our prayer life and experience what it really is: a great privilege.
We also pray to worship Him and thank Him for who He is and what He has done for us, especially for what Christ has done on the cross. The hymn writer says it best:
“My sin – oh, the bliss of this glorious thought – my sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, oh my soul!”
Whether it be for a deeper walk with the Lord, to find comfort in time of need, or to simply bask in who He is and worship Him, let’s use February to improve our prayer life and experience what it really is: a great privilege.
