It has been a joy over the past few months to study Genesis 1-2, the goodness of God’s creation and the gift of stewardship He has given to men and women made in His image. He owns it all, and yet He entrusts His possessions to us to enjoy, to keep, and ultimately to give Him glory and thanks.
That’s why generosity isn’t an odious duty. Stewardship is rather a joy. It is a chance to express our trust in God for everything we need, everything we are, everything we are meant to do.
That doesn’t mean we are careless with what God has given us. Rather, in a world filled with foolishness and fraud, we take special care of what we’ve received, praying for wisdom to use it for His greatest glory. And when it seems like we’ve lost something, we know the best thing is irrevocably secured to us.
Luke 11:13 says, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Santa Claus is nothing compared to the God who gives the ultimate good—Himself—to anyone who asks!
