The Prayers of the Apostle Paul

There are many lessons to learn in the school of prayer. The Scriptures abound with its faithful professors. Behind the Lord Jesus and King David we have no greater teacher than the Apostle Paul. David teaches us to pray vulnerably from the heart. The Apostle Paul teaches us to pray for the heart. The distinct lesson from Paul’s prayers is the importance of God’s work in the inner man. The result is that all of Paul’s praying is flavored by a concern for the inner working of the soul and that God and God alone can affect it through Jesus Christ and the empowering Spirit.
