True Fellowship: Reassurance for the Fearful Believer

Main idea: If you are living in obedience, be reassured that you are in true fellowship with God.

1. If you live according to God’s commandments: You are of the truth (1 John 3:19-20)
2. If you live according to God’s commandments: You can confidently approach God (1 John 3:21-23)
3. If you live according to God’s commandments: You abide in God and God in you (1 John 3:24)

Application:

• In what ways are you fearful about your relationship with God?
• How does this passage address those fears?
• What is the ultimate source of our confidence before God?
• Think of another person you could encourage with the truths
  of this passage.
