Imagine a famed tightrope walker who stunned the crowds at the circus with his balancing dexterity. He invited all to come watch him walk the tightrope across a huge waterfall. They applauded with wild cheering as he skillfully crossed.

He asked the crowd if they believed he could do it again, this time while pushing a wheelbarrow. They roared with thunderous applause. Then he asked the crowd if they believed he could do it with a person in the wheelbarrow. Again, the crowd responded with raucous, believing agreement. He asked for a volunteer to get into the wheelbarrow. Silence. No one responded. Finally, a 10-year-old stepped forward and said he believed. He got in! The tightrope walker took the lad safely across the waterfall.

We are called upon by God to believe Him, to trust Him, to put our faith in Him. God offers saving faith through Christ from our sin. By faith we respond and “get in.” God offers sanctifying grace through Christ in our daily walk. By faith we respond and “get in.” Or do we?

Our church has recently studied the biblical record about Abraham, who was called by God to “get in.” He heard God and walked by faith, not by sight. He was promised descendants, but he had no child. He dealt with relational conflicts. He capitulated in the face of fear for his personal security. He lived through a famine. A family member was kidnapped. God again promised a child. Abraham believed, and God delivered!

We identify with Abraham. Faith in God seems so simple, yet so hard when life gets tough. In this feature, we look at real faith stories in the lives of Faith Bible Church members. Through Christ, this can be your story also. Read and be encouraged to put your trust in Jesus for salvation and daily living. Put your faith in God’s faithfulness.
