Luke 14:7-24

Introduction

Main Idea: Jesus desires you to understand that humility, sacrifice, and commitment are hallmarks of a genuine member of the Kingdom of God.

1. Embrace genuine humility as the only path to the honor of kingdom citizenship (Luke 14:7-11)
2. Pursue selfless service as the only path to reward at the resurrection of the righteous (Luke 14:12-14)
3. Respond and commit to Christ’s invitation without excuse (Luke 14:16-21a)
   • a. The excuse of Possessions (what we have - having)
   • b. The excuse of Vocations (what we do - doing)
   • c. The excuse of Relations (who we are - being)
4. Recognize the Master’s house is filled with those who know they are weak and unworthy (Luke 14:21b-24)
