Introduction

We are going to examine five aspects of a proper commitment to the local church.

1. The Local Church is Central to God’s Plan

1 Timothy 3:15 

2. Commit Yourself to one Local Church

    I. You are a member of a family

    II. You are to be a brick in a building

    III. You are to be a member of a body

    IV. You are to fulfill “one another” commands

    V. You have responsibilities toward your church leaders

        1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 

        Hebrews 13:17 

        Hebrews 13:7 

3. Your Commitment must be Mutual and Recognized

    I. You and the shepherds 

        1 Peter 5:1-3 

        Hebrews 13:17 

    II. You and the rest of the church 

        Matthew 18:15-17  

        1 Corinthians 5:11-13
