Suffer Humbly
00:00 00:00

Main Idea: Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God as you follow Christ in suffering.

  1. How can you humble yourself under the mighty hand of God?
    1 Peter 5:6–7

  2. Why must you humble yourself under the mighty hand of God?
    1 Peter 5:8–9

  3. What is the grace that God promises to those who humble themselves under His mighty hand?
    1 Peter 5:10–11

Questions for Reflection & Application

  • Considering the commands of 1 Peter (to holy living and love for others and submission to authorities), for what do you need to depend on God so that you can faithfully follow Christ?

  • What anxieties and cares do you need to cast on the Lord (Philippians 4:6–7, 1 Peter 5:7), knowing that He cares for you?

  • What can you do to resist the enemy’s attacks on your faith? How can you work hard in humble dependence on God to stay firm in your faith? What kinds of thinking (I am the only one suffering, I can do this on my own, there is no real danger) do you need to repent of so that you can be alert and be ready to resist attacks on your faith?

  • How can you cultivate continuous dependence on the God of all grace who promises to deliver you?
