00:00 00:00

Why is the local church a big deal to God and believers? The Bible answers three questions that will propel us to give our lives to Christ and his Church.

Sermon Notes

The Bible answers three questions that will propel us to give our lives to Christ and his church.

1. What is this ‘big deal’ called the church?

Where the story ends

Revelation 21:22

The Universal Church is the blood bought people of God throughout church history who will live with Him now and forever.

Hebrews 12:22

Who these people are

      Disciples of Jesus Christ

Committing to gather under the Lordship of Christ (Hebrews 10:24-25)

2. Why is this a ‘big deal’ to God

God’s eternal plan

Ephesians 3:10

Church-blood bought, spirit empowered

Romans 8:29

God’s Present Purpose

      Make disciples

      Exalt Christ

      Equip

      Evangelize

3. Why is this a ‘big deal’ to us

Negatively

Positively

      Encouragement and Endurance Hebrews 10:21-25

Earthly Spiritual Protection (Acts 20:28, Hebrews 3:13)

      Survival (1 Corinthians 12:18-21)

      Supernaturally loved (1 John 4:8-12)

Experience the Awe and Grace of Christ

Application:

  • Teach about the church in basic evangelism
  • Pray for the church
  • Join the Church
  • Serve the Church
  • Give to the church
