Faithful Stewardship and Debt
00:00 00:00

Main idea: Five principles about debt to help us be faithful stewards of God’s money

  1. Deal with your heart first (1 Timothy 6:6-19)
    • Competing loves (10)
    • Competing hopes (17)
    • A generous God (17)
    • Eternal focus (18-19)
    • Flee the temptations (11)
  2. Remember that debt is always a master (Proverbs 22:7)

  3. Consider the positives and negatives of debt
    • Positive
    • Negative
  4. Consider when debt is sin or not sin
    • When debt is sin
    • When debt is not sin
  5. Ask the right questions about purchases
    • Am I giving regularly?
    • What is this purchase about?
    • Is it part of the budget?
    • Is it a want or a need? (Wants are okay)
    • Will this hinder future generosity?
    • Have I sought and received wise counsel?
