We are moving into the main section of Genesis where we see God making a people for Himself from Abram. Genesis 1-11 gave us the introduction to who God is as the Creator and King of the Earth. We see that He created humans in His image to be His children and His rulers under His rule. We see the fall of humanity into sin and rebellion, and all of the serious consequences. Now, in Genesis 12, God chooses Abram and promises to bless him and to make him into a great nation and to bless all the families of the earth through him. The rest of Genesis tells the story of Abram (who becomes Abraham) and his family and how God keeps His promises to them to make them into a great people who are blessed by God.
As we continue studying Genesis, may we grow in our love for God and our appreciation for Christ and our dependence on the Spirit! May we love each other well as we seek to know God through studying His Word and as we seek to become like Christ together as we obey God’s Word!
