Dominion

Managing God's Gifts of Time, Talent, and Treasures

Dominion
  • Introduction
  • Dominion describes God’s sovereignty and rule. However, the Sovereign One has also given dominion to humanity (Psalm 8:6, Genesis 1:28) who are made in His image. As we seek to be a loving community making disciples of Jesus Christ, the dominion of God radically informs how we exercise our own dominion of what God gives us. All our lives belong to God.

Because God is the Creator, everything and everyone belongs to Him (Psalm 24:1-2). Because God is the Savior, all of us who have been saved by Him belong to Him (Romans 11:36). Our time, our talent, and our treasure, indeed all our lives, belong to God. We use our time, our talent (gifts, abilities), and our treasure as managers or stewards who are responsible to our Master and King.

We will give an account to Him for how we use what He has given to us (Matthew 25:14-30). There will be great reward and great loss depending on how we have managed that which God has given to us. Our salvation is secure in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9), but the degree to which we walk in the good works which God prepared beforehand for us (Ephesians 2:10) will determine the way that God rewards us (2 Corinthians 5:10) and the amount of glory that Christ ultimately receives from our lives.

So, we seek to exercise wise dominion over all the time, talent, and treasure that God gives to us. This means that we want to be wise about how we spend the money God gives us and how we incur debt. Faithful living includes a life of contentment and self-control that is not hindered by sinful debt. Faithful living includes a life of generosity and sacrifice that partners wholeheartedly with biblical local churches and those they send out to do the work of the Great Commission.

Christ is building His church and rescuing all His children from the domain of darkness! We have the ultimate privilege of being used by Jesus to call His children out of the darkness into His glorious light. Every moment, every gift and ability, and every resource God has given us is meant to be given back to Him as we use all of them in ways that worship and praise Him who is worthy of all praise!

Our goal is that each member of Faith Bible Church will be encouraged and equipped to experience maximum joy as we live faithfully as managers of God’s gifts of time, talent, and treasure!
